Position Summary

 

The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, analysis, and delivery of mechanical systems across a variety of projects. This role combines technical expertise with project leadership, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and sustainability standards while adhering to budget and schedule requirements. The Lead Mechanical Engineer mentors junior engineers, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, and provides strategic input into system optimization and project planning.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the design, development, and analysis of mechanical systems for buildings, infrastructure, and industrial projects.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with electrical, structural, and civil engineers to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Conduct field investigations, surveys, and site inspections to verify existing conditions and construction quality.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project reviews.
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and budgets for mechanical engineering scope.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and provide technical responses during construction phases.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, cost savings, and energy efficiency.
  • Stay current on industry codes, regulations, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; open to candidates 6-12 months from licensure.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design and project leadership.
  • Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering design software.
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, IPC, and other applicable codes.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite preferred.
